About the San Ramon, California Area 

Incorporated on July 1, 1983, the City of San Ramon is located on 14 square miles of the San Ramon Valley approximately 25 miles east of the City of Oakland in the San Francisco Bay Area. The San Ramon Valley has long been considered one of the most desirable living areas in the Bay Area because of its scenic beauty, good climate, excellent schools and parks, and proximity to the Bay Area's major employment centers. 

San Ramon is governed by the City Council/City Manager form of government. The City's population is approximately 51,062 with an expected build-out population of approximately 90,000.

LOCATION
San Ramon, California, is located in Contra Costa County, in the south end of the beautiful San Ramon Valley just about 44 miles East of San Francisco, 32 Miles North of San Jose, 9 miles South of Walnut Creek and about an 11/2 hours Southwest of Sacramento. 

AIRPORTS AND TRANSPORTATION
San Ramon is served by three major airports: San Francisco International (about 44 miles), San Jose International (about 35 miles) and Oakland International (about 25 miles). Less than 5 miles to the South and about 10 miles to the North, the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) is available to reach most of the East Bay Cities including Oakland, and to the West Bay to San Francisco. San Ramon is adjacent to major freeways including highway 680, 580 And 24.  

The Bishop Ranch Office Park consists of 580 acres of land with 5.9 million square feet of office space. The office park is currently home to approximately 200 companies including such Fortune 500 companies as Pacific Bell, Chevron/Texaco, AT and T, Toyota and United Parcel Service. San Ramon is an attractive, expanding city and according to the city, it is expected that over 16,000 jobs will be added within the next 15 years. 

EDUCATION
San Ramon schools are part of The San Ramon Valley Unified School District that encompasses the communities of Danville, Alamo, Blackhawk, Walnut Creek and is comprised of 28 schools serving more than 21,000 students. This District consistently ranks among the top 10% of California school districts.
